Judging by dispatch figures from India's cement producers, demand in the country slowed down in April.

India's Shree Cement said April dispatches climbed 28,33% to 788.000 tons, up from 614.000 tons a year earlier.

ACC, India's largest cement company, sold 1,8 million tons of cement in April.

Cement sales in Pakistan fell by 5% cent year-on year to 2,6 million tons in April.

Indian cement producer Jaiprakash Associates said on Monday that its cement division reported a total dispatches of 791.000 tons of cement during April, 2009.

During April, the Moscow Stock Exchange cement price index rose 11,92% over the March figure to 2.210,73 rubles. Premium Content

India's ACC said that it "has no plans to increase the prices of the commodity in Delhi." The company also said that it is seeing signs of Pakistani companies dumping cement on the Indian market.

Venezuela's cement production capacity, largely output by companies that were seized by the government last year, now stands 9,1 million tons per year, with production in the first quarter rising 7% over the same period last year. Premium Content

Saudi Arabia cement demand jumped to monthly record high in March, with total dispatches of 3,46 million tons versus 2,89 million tons in the same month last year and 2,94 million tons for the prior month.  Premium Content
